Creative brief
For over a decade, Renault and Ircam have been working in tandem to shape the sound of the cars of the future. In 2017, at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the automaker unveiled its vision of the future through the Symbioz concept car. The sound design for this electric and autonomous vehicle was the result of collaboration between Renault (Innovation, Design) and Ircam's Perception et Design Sonores research team, in association with composer Andre Cera. Together, they designed the vehicle's exterior sound signature and a palette of interior sounds for signage. The project also explored the new frontiers of human-machine interfaces (HMI), taking exhaustive account of interactions between driver, passengers and cockpit, while adapting these interactions to different driving modes.
