Catacombes Paris

In a unique collaboration with the Catacombs of Paris, Ircam Amplify has led a research and design project aimed at transforming the visitor experience through spatial sound. As part of a broader effort to improve visitor flow and comfort within this iconic subterranean site, we were asked to develop an innovative auditory pathway that guides visitors through sound rather than signage. Using advanced spatialization techniques, visitors are subtly directed through the galleries by a moving and evolving sonic landscape. This immersive acoustic environment is designed to enhance orientation, regulate pacing, and reduce congestion all while enriching the contemplative atmosphere of the site.
